The CGT Centre for Geotechnologies is the centre of the University of Siena for applied geological research, for the improvement of Geotechnologies and high educational training.
The CGT aims to increase and strengthen the relationship between the scientific applied research and the business reality needs promoting new research themes and developing advisory projects and technological transfer to companies.
The CGT aims at quality and efficiency providing a broad range of education in the field of Geology, Applied Geomorphology, Environmental Geology, Hydrogeology, Geotechnics, Geoengineering, Geophysics and Geomatics.
The CGT guarantees the complete self-financing and management of all research and education activities thanks to the tight collaboration and mutual exchange with the business reality and local authorities.
Since its establishment in 2002, the CGT has been based in San Giovanni Valdarno, a small art city of ancient industrial tradition, in the heart of Tuscany between Florence, Arezzo and Siena, between the Chianti and Pratomagno mountains. In 2011, a second location of the Center was opened in the Municipality of Cavriglia at the Services and Business Incubator Center of the University of Siena (CSII-UNISI), where some laboratories were developed that needed industrial spaces and established companies as university spin-offs of the Centre, networked in the CGT Group.
